Why?
I have always been fascinated by turned items at craft fairs, without any real understanding of the process by which they were created. So for my 50th birthday I was persuaded into going on short taster course in Woodturning.
From my first tentative attempt at turning a mushroom I was hooked, three days later I came home with my first lathe, a basic set of tools and an endless passion for creating beautiful unique items from a wonderful tactile natural material.

Fascination
After untold hours developing my turning I found a particular love for taking damaged timbers and burrs, adding resin, coloured with metallic powders and pigments, to the naturally occurring flaws, enabling me to create stunning one off pieces, highlighting the natural colours and textures of the wood.

Passion
When turning my bowls I’m striving to create the form that will best show the beauty in the wood, however a love of steampunk and science fiction from early childhood has provided inspiration for my imagination, allowing me to create some of my quirkier pieces of wood turned art.
